Nu er sommeren kommet og der er Landsskue i Herning torsdag den 1. juli til og med lørdag den 3. juli 2010.

 

Der møder over 450 dyr op af forskellige kødkvægracer - her i blandt kommer der også Skotsk Højlandskvæg.

 

 

 

Bedømmelsen af Skotsk Højlandskvæg foregår om torsdagen kl. 10.30 - 11.30 i den store ring.

 

Ærespræmiekonkurrence og udpegning af Landsskuets bedste han- og hundyr for Skotsk Højlandskvæg foregår om fredagen kl. 9.45 - 11.00 i den store ring.

 

Interbreed Kødkvæg foregår om lørdagen kl. 10.30 - 11.15 i den store ring.

 

Grill-aften på Landsskuet

Der er fælles Grill-aften på Landsskuet fredag den 2. juli, kl. 18 ved standen for Skotsk Højlandskvæg. Alle både udstillere og medlemmer m.fl. er velkommen. Af hensyn til hvor meget mad vi skal købe og antal stole og borde, som vi skal finde frem, bedes I tilmelde jer senest torsdag den 1. juli til Ann Margaret Sørensen på mobil 4046 214 eller på standen for Skotsk Højlandskvæg på Landsskuet.

Sommerudflugt i Avlsforeningen for Skotsk Højlandskvæg

Lørdag den 7. august 2010 vil Søren Brydsø gerne på vegne af Avlsforeningen for Skotsk Højlandskvæg byde alle medlemmer og andre interesserede på en sommerudflugt. Turen foregår i Vestjylland på Skallingen, hvor en hyrde vil fortælle om området, dernæst kører vi videre til Vrøgum Kær, som er et naturplejeprojekt med Skotsk Højlandskvæg. Dagen sluttes af med en grill-aften. Nærmere program og kørselsvejledning kommer senere. Vil I gerne vide mere allerede nu, er I velkommen til at kontakte Søren Brydsø på tlf. 4143 8474.

3rd International Gathering of Highland Cattle Breeders in Glasgow

From September 29th to 11th October 2010

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The objective is to:

 

a) Define the role of the Highland breed in the 21st century,

b) Define how we, as cattle breeders, can ensure we are breeding the right type of cattle to meet future needs of the beef industry (whatever these might be),

c) Ensure the survival of the Highland breed by increasing its popularity throughout the cattle breeding world and developing a greater understanding of the environment to which the breed is best suited.

 

CONFERENCE PROGRAMME BASICS

 

DAY 1- Wednesday 29th September

10.30 Registration of delegates

 

13.0 Defining the role of the Highland Breed in the 21st century

Presentation of papers by Highland breeders from across the World followed by

Open forum

 

DAY 2 - Thursday 30th September

9.30 How best to breed the right type of cattle to meet future needs of the beef industry

Presentation of papers followed by open forum

 

Afternoon : choice of organised visits to leading Folds in central Scotland

 

Friday 1st October

Visit to Folds in the Central Highlands specialising in organic beef production and a commercial beef enterprise where Highland cows form the basis of the beef

 

Saturday 2nd October

City of Glasgow International Highland Cattle Show (the largest show of Highland Cattle in Europe)

 

Sunday 3rd October

A day for delegates to spend on their own to enjoy the sights in the wonderful city of Glasgow.

 

Monday 4th October

All day visit to Loch Katrine in the Trossachs “Scotland at its very best" to view one of the largest conservation projects in Europe, where a Fold of Highland cattle has recently been established to help in the natural regeneration of native woodland. This is a must visit to the land made famous by Sir Walter Scott.

 

Tuesday 5th to Saturday 9th October

Visit to well known Highland Folds in the Grampian Mountains and the North East of Scotland and then travel to the original homeland of the Highland breed to the Western Highlands and Islands.

 

This will truly be a Highland Homecoming…

 

Sunday 10th to Monday 11th October

113th Annual Show and Sale of Pedigree Highland Cattle in Oban the home of Highland Cattle Sales for over one hundred years.
